Brooks drops ‘I Pray’ – Stream / Download

Brooks continues to build his signature sound: Soul + Hip Hop + Inspiration and laid back but uplifting vibes. I Pray is yet one of those inspirational not gospel songs as such. I Pray places Brooks at the center stage of an emcee besides aesthetics.

I Pray is produced and mastered by Nase Avatar and the beat is by Chamber Beats (USA). Brooks Aftermath explores the theme of faith and the life out of it. He acknowledges the need to believe in the higher power for direction and inspiration.

[Lord I pray], every word that I spit/ Liberates the minds of the weak

From the baby mama drama, brothers locked up in prison, to women claiming to have his children – Brooks hails prayer to escape temptation. Interestingly he offers the Lords Prayer to sign off the track.

I Pray showcases a man hoping to make it through this dark world by going back to God.  The production relies on soul, hip hop and a sample of a woman saying “Late in  the evening…” and his verses fill in with the notion of prayer to emphasise the message.
