‘The Queen of Ugandan Hip Hop’, Kekotown is back with “Light Years”

In the early 2010’s to about 2016, Kekotown was a force to reckon with a face of Ugandan Hip Hop and a motivation to most female rappers and as many call her “Queen”, she is likely responsible for the careeers of most female rappers in the game right now.

‘Queen’ as many have addressed Akello Jocelyn Tracy, well known as Keko or KekoTown is officially back after years of musical hiatus. The now professional producer and graduate of Toronto Film school, shared her latest EDM-rap laden “Light Years” on Sunday 18th September, 2022.

The song evokes the glory days of the KekoTown sound and the genre bending, gifted rapper and artiste at large. “Light Years” covers love, commitment, pen game and legacy building with a loved one and can also be taken as a reassuring statement to our geng geng (circle).

Many have come out to make memes and others commenting on her social media pages with comments like: “Queen”,

Rugged Made also weighed in and said “Time. It was just a matter of time. Reign on. Peace love and light.”

Earlier on she also shared a post saying no to drugs quoting Nancy Reagan’s “No to Drugs” campaign. Keko went on apologized for the incidence (January 2022) she had on IG Live a while back that made many so concerned. In her explanation she says she was celebrating her new apartment.

Like Nancy Reagan said we tell the kids Just Say No to drugs. I don’t do drugs contrary to popular belief the old account incident was me celebrating my new apartment with some champagne 🥂 nothing serious I apologize again if I seemed out of sorts the view was too amazing. Love always xx
